PRODUCTION

THE FASHION INDUSTRY IS NOT ONLY KNOWN FOR ITS HIGH IMPACT ON THE PLANET, BUT THERE ARE ALSO HIGH RISKS IN PRODUCING COUNTRIES FOR THE WORKERS. WE STRIVE TO WORK WITH RELIABLE PRODUCTION PARTNERS THAT COMPLY WITH SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION.

We work with a limited number of permanent foreign production partners, some of whom we have built strong long-term relationships with. In brief, more than 70% of our models are produced in Europe*, the rest elsewhere. We carefully select our partners based on expertise and production capacities.

To ensure that our production takes place under the right ethical and environmental conditions, in 2021 we developed our Framework for lower-impact procurement. Discover our top-5 production countries below.

Did you know that Xandres stands out as one of the few fashion houses in Belgium with an in-house team of skilled tailors? Not only do they take care of the repair and alterations of garments, but they also develop and test the more innovative projects we work on in the Xandres Lab.

Where is Xandres made?

55% MACEDONIA

More than half of our production takes place in Macedonia. The companies we work with specialise in confection (dresses, skirts, blouses, pants, coats, blazers, etc.). They are renowned for their expertise and quality, and only work with high-end fashion brands.

24% CHINA

24% of our production takes place in China. China has a long and storied history of silk production. They have the best expertise in the world and a strong and positive reputation in terms of quality. The same goes for knitwear. China has the most advanced production techniques, enabling it to offer a wide range of knitwear products.

6% PORTUGAL

6% of our production takes place in Portugal. We work with Portuguese manufacturers mainly for jersey and T-shirts as they are known for their quality and craftmanship. Portugal's textile industry has embraced innovation and technology. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovation has earned them a favourable reputation among fashion brands.

6% BELGIUM

We work with a Belgian family business with more than 70 years of expertise for 6% of our knitwear. The proximity of our partner allows us to visit them regularly to ensure the highest quality.

They are known for their exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Moreover, most of our yarns come from Italy, which reduces the distances between the suppliers and the producers.

SOME OTHER THINGS WE FOCUS ON WHEN IT COMES TO PRODUCTION

-    100% of our suppliers signed our Code of Conduct to guarantee good working conditions in the factories.

-    We build strong relations and visit our production facilities in Macedonia every month.

-    For factories that are in high-risk countries or situations and suppliers that deliver an important amount of volume, we demand independent audits. 70% of our volume is sourced from audited factories.
