EXTEND THE LIFESPAN OF YOUR GARMENTS

How to look after your clothing

  • WASHING

#1 Don't wash your clothes too often. Only clothes that are actually dirty belong in the washing machine. You can combat unpleasant odours by airing your clothes.

#2 Never use fabric softener It is bad for the environment and your skin.

#3 Wash your clothes inside out and close zippers, hooks and buttons. It is best to wash delicate items and fabrics in a laundry bag.

#4 Don't overfill your washing machine. If your washing machine is barely filled, use an adapted washing programme.

#5 Use plant-based liquid detergents. They are less harmful to the environment because they are biodegradable. Powders can stain your clothes.

#6 Wash at a low temperature. 30° is usually enough. Always read the washing instructions. There is nothing more annoying than a pullover that has shrunk or a blouse that gets damaged.

#7 Wash light colours separately. It is best to keep whites and colours separate.

  • DRYING

#1 Rather hang your clothes on a drying rack than use a dryer. It's much better for the environment, for the life of your clothes and your wallet!

#2 Knitwear is best dried flat. Don't hang your jumpers on a drying rack but lay them flat to dry. This will maintain the shape.

#3 When the weather is nice, put the drying rack outside, but do not place your rack in full sun and hang your clothes inside out. This will keep the colours from fading in the sunlight.

  • IRONING

#1 Iron as little as possible. By hanging your clothes carefully when drying, you can avoid a lot of ironing.

#2 If there are still wrinkles in the fabric, then iron inside out at a low temperature.

#3 Never iron prints, sequins or applications.

  • IN YOUR WARDROBE

#1 Opt for broad-shouldered coat racks or hangers. They distribute the weight of your garment better and help it keep its shape.

#2 Close the zippers and buttons of the clothes that you hang.

#3 Give every piece of clothing in your closet plenty of room. Don't squash everything together. Delicate items or fabrics may otherwise be damaged.

#4 Do not hang knitwear or it will lose its shape. Pullovers and cardigans are best folded and stacked on a shelf.
