PRODUCTION

THE FASHION INDUSTRY IS NOT ONLY KNOWN FOR ITS SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON THE PLANET, BUT ALSO FOR THE HIGH RISK FACED BY WORKERS IN PRODUCING COUNTRIES. AT XANDRES, WE STRIVE TO COLLABORATE WITH RELIABLE PRODUCTION PARTNERS WHO COMPLY WITH BOTH SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS.

We work with a limited number of long-standing foreign production partners, some of whom we’ve built strong relationships with over many years. In short, 69% of our styles are produced in Europe*, with the remainder made elsewhere. We carefully select each partner based on their expertise and production capacity.

To ensure that our production takes place under the right ethical and environmental conditions, we developed our Framework for Lower-Impact Procurement in 2021. Discover our main production countries below.

90% of our garments are made in audited factories. These factories are regularly checked by independent organisations to make sure they meet important social and environmental standards.

Did you know that Xandres stands out as one of the few fashion houses in Belgium with an in-house team of skilled tailors? Not only do they take care of the repair and alterations of garments, they also develop and test the more innovative projects we work on in the Xandres Lab.

Where is Xandres made?

53% NORTH MACEDONIA

31% CHINA

31% of our production takes place in Hong Kong and China. China has a long and storied history of silk production. They have the best expertise in the world and a strong and positive reputation in terms of quality. The same goes for knitwear. China has the most advanced production techniques, enabling it to offer a wide range of knitwear products.

8% BELGIUM

We work with a Belgian family business with more than 70 years of expertise for part of our knitwear. The proximity of our partner allows us to visit them regularly, to ensure the highest quality.

5% PORTUGAL

5% of our production takes place in Portugal. We work with Portuguese manufacturers mainly for jersey and T-shirts as they are known for their quality and craftmanship. Portugal's textile industry has embraced innovation and technology. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovation has earned them a favourable reputation among fashion brands.

“WE’VE ALWAYS WORKED WITH A RELATIVELY SMALL AND RELIABLE GROUP OF SUPPLIERS. IN RECENT YEARS, WE’VE STRENGTHENED THIS APPROACH BY CONSOLIDATING PARTNERSHIPS AND PRIORITISING THOSE WHO ALIGN WITH OUR SOCIAL AND ENVRIONMENTAL STANDARDS. CURRENTLY, 90% OF THE FACTORIES WE PRODUCE IN, ARE AUDITED, BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT VERIFIED PRODUCTION PRACTICES ARE MORE MEANINGFUL THAN PRODUCTION LOCATIONS — IT’S ABOUT HOW WE PRODUCE, NOT WHERE WE PRODUCE.”

SOME OTHER THINGS WE FOCUS ON WHEN IT COMES TO PRODUCTION

-    100% of our suppliers signed our Code of Conduct to guarantee good working conditions in the factories.

-    We build strong relations and visit our production facilities in North Macedonia every month.

-    For factories that are in high-risk countries or situations and suppliers that deliver an important amount of volume, we demand independent audits. 90% of our volume is sourced from audited factories.
