On 25 November, Xandres is closing its web shop and all of its stores as a counter-reaction to Black Friday

For the second time in a row, Xandres is rebelling against the peak of overconsumption that is Black Friday, and we're taking it one step further this year. 25 November 2022 is Green Friday at Xandres, and we will close our web shop and all of our stores that day. In addition, in the run-up to Green Friday, you can bring in your old Xandres items, which we will repair for you for free in our atelier. A message that turns a black day into an opportunity to reflect on and cherish what we already have.

XANDRES COLOURS BLACK FRIDAY GREEN
A complete shutdown of web shop and stores

With the fashion industry topping the list of ”most polluting sectors in the world”, Xandres has long been encouraging consumers to become more conscious about their buying habits. To emphasise its opposition to Black Friday and impulse shopping, we're making a statement by closing our web shop and stores on 25 November 2022, instead spending the day working on the theme ”Repair & Care”. Hello Green Friday!

BUY BETTER, KEEP FOREVER
Get your clothes mended by Xandres for free

Durable, timeless and quality clothing that lasts has always been the essence of Xandres; items you can cherish for generations to come, instead of disposable fashion. To encourage a more circular approach to fashion, you can bring in your slightly damaged Xandres pieces to one of our boutiques from 4 to 23 November, after which we will repair them for free in the atelier. Xandres' permanent Repair & Care programme allows you to enjoy your clothes for even longer.

The team will carry out the following repairs:
• Replace missing buttons
• Replace zippers
• Fix loose seams
• Fix loose hems and belt loops
• Repair linings and pockets
• Replace elastic
• Repair holes
• Remove pilling from pullovers

WORKSHOPS AT THE XANDRES ATELIER
Working together for Repair & Care

We will bring all our employees together at our atelier in Destelbergen on 25 November to support the couture team with repairs. Family members and even elderly people from the local residential care centre who can sew are also welcome to help and share their knowledge across generations. Xandres partners will also host fun workshops on garment maintenance.

This day—on which we're closing our shops and lobbying for sustainable, circular fashion, bringing people and generations together, sharing knowledge and giving workshops—is a warm message to others to do the same.
