HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

“I like to dress up, for any occasion. I think the best compliment is my children asking me if I'm going to a party in the morning. I prefer to invest in timeless styles that don't go out of fashion easily, and that I can wear for a long time. I combine these with affordable accessories.”

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER A WARDROBE CLASSIC?

“I have a coat and blazer addiction; my wardrobe is bursting with them! Seventeen years at Xandres definitely has something to do with that: the coats and blazers are of such timeless quality that even my first Xandres coat still looks great.”

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOOK?

“This blazer model has been my favourite at Xandres for several seasons, but this reddish-brown velvet version was still missing from my wardrobe. Not an easy fabric to produce, but the result is gorgeous! A suit you can wear both casually with a T-shirt or turtleneck, and to a party without anything underneath with bold earrings. Shades of brown are fashionable and, combined with a shiny fabric, extra feminine and luxurious. A must-try!”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

“Unpredictable, with a vintage touch. I love beautiful prints and fabrics and have a penchant for ‘modest fashion’ that covers as much skin as possible. It makes me feel extremely sexy and stylish. Sexy is not a dress with deep cleavage, it's a feeling. In a men's suit, for example, I feel unbelievably feminine!
I translate the trends seen on the runways into looks with clothes already in my wardrobe and update them with accessories.”

WE OFTEN SEE YOU IN BOLD, COLOURFUL LOOKS. HOW DO YOU STYLE THIS INTO A HARMONIOUS COMBINATION?

“Unexpected colour combinations are totally my thing. From my graphic design background, I play with colour, creating combinations that highlight a certain hue or slightly mute it. For example, I enrich an orange hue with brown or mute intense lime green with grey. If you combine blue with orange, two complementary colours, you enhance both.”

ARE YOU SUSCEPTIBLE TO TRENDS? 

“Trends always return. As a result, I’ve had some items in my wardrobe for at least 15 years that I can wear again and again: plaid, houndstooth, polka dot, leopard print ... My tip is to invest in these kinds of classics without them having to be basic or boring. That way, you build up a nice archive that you can always fall back on. It's not always about what you wear but how you combine it. Shoes or a handbag can often take a look to a trendy level. In my opinion, trends will be less and less influential as we focus more and more on the individual. Look at your unique style and wear clothes that fit your personality, and you will always be ‘hot and happening.”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

“My style can be described as eclectic. Mixing and matching is totally my thing. I like to mix materials, prints ... In terms of cuts, I love feminine elegance but also a boxy fit! My colour palette this autumn/winter contains many shades of burgundy – warm colours dominate in my wardrobe. In terms of fabrics, I love cashmere in winter, which I like to combine with leather for an interesting and cool look. Rich fabrics give an extra boost in the grey months.

WHY DO YOU OFTEN WEAR BLAZERS AND HOW DO YOU PREFER TO STYLE THEM?

“A good blazer is a wardrobe essential because you can combine it in countless ways. Wear it with a smart office look, over a dress or casually with jeans and trainers: an instant upgrade! By the way, the houndstooth, mini or maxi, is back. I combine the maxi version with a smaller houndstooth for a super fresh and young result. 
If you go for a monochrome look, you can play with materials: a hit for me is combining a patent leather skirt with a woolly jumper, elegant and cool!”

WHERE DID YOUR LOVE FOR BELGIAN FASHION START AND HOW DID IT LEAD YOU TO XANDRES?

“I've always had it. I think it's important to support the local aspect. Xandres is a firm favourite that brings stylish classics with a fun innovative twist. The cuts are feminine and elegant, as well as timeless! Good investments that will last for years in your wardrobe.”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

“I vary between different styles a lot. I love colour all year round, but you'll also find nudes and black tones in my wardrobe. A combination of both suits me perfectly, like this classic black coat with a colourful dress and scarf. The red adds instant power to my look, the coat is a favourite that I can match with a lot this autumn.”

HOW DO YOU LET YOUR MOOD INFLUENCE YOUR CHOICE OF CLOTHES FOR THE DAY?

“I used to opt for black rather quickly, especially when the weather was bad. In recent years, however, I've been pulling colour out of the wardrobe more and more often, and I find that it immediately makes me feel good. This can range from a full look to a subtle touch, like a colourful scarf."

“I definitely wanted colour because that typifies who I am. So this red dress was a no-brainer, and I can combine it timelessly with other items. The collection is packed with fun pieces; the bright green coat, pink jacket, sleeveless coat and microprint dress are also on my wish list."
