XANDRES LAB PROJECTS

SCIRT,
THE WAY TO A
CIRCULAR FASHION SYSTEM

For the past three years, Xandres has been a partner in the SCIRT project, an innovative research project on textile-to-textile recycling for post-consumer clothing.

A complete recycling system was developed thanks to SCIRT, a partnership between the fashion industry and the research community. Although many challenges remain, this project shows that both natural and synthetic fibres can be reused, opening new possibilities for more sustainable fashion.

SYSTEM CIRCULARITY AND INNOVATIVE RECYCLING OF TEXTILES – SCIRT, IN SHORT.

Only 1% of all textiles are recycled into new ones today. It is a long and complex process, whereby the greatest challenge is preserving quality. This has always been a priority for Xandres, which is why we conducted different tests with research partners in Vienna (TU and BOKU), France (CETI) and Belgium (VITO and ESG), among others, to create a high-quality yarn.

The result is a limited-edition two-piece in a stylish pied-de-poule fabric composed of 17% recycled wool from second-hand clothing, 36% recycled polyester, 25% new polyester and 22% new wool.

WE ARE NOT ALONE!

We firmly believe in cooperation, so we joined forces with other brands, research institutes and supporting partners from all over Europe for this project.
