IN A (RE)NEW(ED) LOOK
The upcycled jacket redefines the role of denim and is a contemporary update of the all-rounder as we know it. Thanks to its elegant kimono look and waist belt, it can be styled with dresses, wide-leg trousers or denim-on-denim. Xandres’ tip? Create an interesting look with different textures and mix & match with a patent leather pencil skirt, a bouclé jumper or a silk two-piece.
BEYOND ONE LIFE: A PROJECT BY XANDRES LAB
High-quality, light-wash denim was already a favourite for jeans during Fall-Winter 22, and now it acts as a canvas for something new.
Leftover materials from a collection are given a second life at Xandres by upcycling them into a completely new design. This avoids unnecessary waste and allows Xandres to evolve towards a circular system. Projects like this one take place in the Xandres Lab, where we experiment with low-impact innovations.
FROM THE WORKSHOP TO YOU
#1 UPCYCLING OF FW22 JEANS
To avoid waste, Xandres gave the remaining jeans from the FW22 collection a new purpose as denim jackets. Each jacket incorporates 3 pairs of jeans.
#2 DESIGN
A stylish design that allows us to recycle as much of each pair of jeans as possible, with styling options from casual to urban chic: this is the design team's vision of the jacket. The process was done in collaboration with Studio Circulaire, a creative upcycling hub in Antwerp. (Fun fact: it was Xandres ambassador Tiany Kiriloff who put the two in touch!)
#3 PROTOTYPE
This is where the design first comes to life. Before the item goes into production, the colours and sizes are checked and fine-tuned. The jacket is available in sizes S-XL.
#4 PRODUCTION
The jacket was handmade in Belgium, in CiLab's workshop in Mechelen.
The denim jacket will be available in all Xandres shops and online from 8/9/2023.
